Pinterest is a visual discovery platform that thrives on timing. Understanding when to post your Pins can significantly impact your visibility and engagement and in turn, increase traffic and profit if that is your goal. Here’s a breakdown of the best times to post on Pinterest:
General Best Times
Evenings: 8 PM - 11 PM (PST) is generally the peak time when users are most active.
Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays see increased engagement, particularly on DIY, home decor, and food-related content.
Fridays: Late afternoons and evenings on Fridays can also yield good results as users plan their weekend projects.
Best Days to Post
Saturday: Ideal for lifestyle, fashion, and food-related content.
Sunday: Great for planning and inspiration, especially for crafts and home improvement.
Friday: Effective for weekend inspiration and activities.
Seasonal Considerations
Holidays: Plan your posts in advance for holiday-related content, as users start searching for ideas months ahead. Because of Pinterest's algorithm, aim for publishing content 45 days before an actualy holiday. For example, for any Halloween ideas, you would want to start pinning around September 16th. For Easter 2025, which is on April 20th this year, you would want to start pinning around March 6th. The "45 day rule" allows your content to be more searchable and get integrated more into the platform.
Seasonal Trends: Align your posting schedule with seasonal trends relevant to your niche. Again, use the "45 day rule" to help you know the best time for posting. Seasonal trends
Target Audience
Understanding your specific audience is crucial. Analyze your audience's behavior and adjust your posting schedule accordingly. Use Pinterest Analytics to find out when your followers are most active. Another great resource is to us the Pinterest Trends tool. With this tool, you can type in a word or phrase and see how often it is searched on Pinterest. You can also see the growing trends and seasonal trends for a specific time range.
Interval Pinning
Another important factor to consider is if you create more than one Pin per blog post or product. I recommend aiming for about 3-5 unique Pins per post and then scheduling them out in an interval time. I recommend 3-4 days between each Pin and if you are Pinning them to more than one board, each board receives the Pin ever 7-10 days. This means that Pin 1 would go out on Day 1 and Pin 2 would go out on 4 and Pin 3 would go out on day 7 and so on until each Pin is posted to the first board. To help you visualize this, here is an image to help.

This type of Pin scheduling will allow your followers and other Pinterest users to not feel overwhelmed or bombarded with the same Pin over and over in a short time frame. This interval scheduling can also be adjusted to a 3 day spacing window or 5 day spacing. IT's really up to you and what you've noticed from your own niche.
Experiment and Analyze
Finally, don't forget to experiment with different posting times and analyze the results. What works for one niche may not work for another, so continuous testing will help you find the optimal posting times for your specific content. Remember that it takes about 3 months to see a change in statistics. For one of my clients, we saw a decrease in traffic the first month and by month 3, a 50% increase in traffic, Pin clicks, impressions and followers!
